Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy utilises suction cups to lift and mobilise the soft tissues. It aims to reduce muscle tightness, improve circulation, and promote healing when used alone or combined with other massage and bodywork modalities by our trained therapists.

How our Massage Therapists can help:

Assessment – Our trained professionals will initially evaluate your areas of concern, muscle tightness, restrictions, and any contraindications through an intake form and discussion.

Cupping Techniques – Utilising suction cups placed on the skin to create negative pressure/vacuum. This lifts the tissues and can be combined with gliding, static, or pulsing movements of the cups.

Treatment Areas – Commonly applied to the back, shoulders, legs, and other major muscle groups. Can also target specific areas of tightness, adhesions, or scarring.

Treatment Goals – Reduce muscular restrictions, adhesions, and scar tissue. Decrease swelling and increase range of motion. Improve localised circulation and promote healing.

Complementary Therapies – Cupping can be combined with other modalities like sports massage, dry needling, or acupuncture for enhanced effects.

Pressure/Intensity – Adjusts suction level and movements based on the client’s tolerance, sensitivity, and treatment goals.

Considerations:

  1. Explains the process, sensations, and potential skin discoloration to the client.
  2. Avoids cupping over bony prominences, abdomens of pregnant women, or areas with clotting disorders.
  3. May recommend self-massage, stretching, or other self-care between sessions.
