Dry Needling & Acupuncture

Dry needling & Western Acupuncture is a technique where thin metal needles are inserted into trigger points or tight bands in muscles to help release tension and reduce pain.

How our Massage Therapists can help:

Acupuncture and Dry Needling

Assessment – Our massage therapists at Physio Connex will conduct an assessment around areas of muscle tightness, trigger points, and restrictions through palpation and postural assessment.

Safety – a thorough medical screen is conducted prior to the consultation screening for contraindications and precautions. Sanitisation and hygiene are high priority – use of alcoholic wipes to prepare the skin, and use of a guidance tube / applicator is part of inserting the needle to ensure the needle itself is not touched by the therapist.

Dry Needling Techniques – Inserts thin, metal needles into trigger points or taught bands within muscles to elicit a twitch response and release tension. The needles are typically inserted for 5-15 minutes pending the individual’s needs, or needles can be moved within a muscle tissue by the therapist creating a more enhanced stimulation.

Treatment Areas – Commonly targets major muscle groups like shoulders, back, legs as well as specific sites of tightness or pain.

Treatment Goals – Reduce muscle tension, spasms, and pain. Improve flexibility and range of motion. Promote healing of soft tissue injuries.

Acupuncture Techniques – Inserts thin needles at specific acupuncture points. The needles are typically inserted for 5-15 minutes pending the individual’s needs, or needles can be moved within a muscle tissue by the therapist creating a more enhanced stimulation.

Treatment Goals – Relieve pain, improve circulation, reduce stress/anxiety, address various health conditions from a holistic perspective.
