Sports Massage

Sports massage is a form of massage therapy that focuses on treating soft tissue injuries, imbalances, and issues caused by repetitive physical activity or trauma. It aims to correct problems in the muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

How our Massage Therapists can help:

Assessment – Our therapists will evaluate your sport/activity, training schedule, injuries/areas of concern through intake forms and discussion.

Techniques – At Physio Connex we aim to utilise techniques like effleurage, petrissage, cross-tendon friction, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and stretching to address muscle tightness, adhesions, and knots.

Treatment Areas – Focuses on major muscle groups used in the client’s sport (legs, back, shoulders, etc.) as well as any specific injury sites.

Treatment Goals – Reduce muscle soreness, tension and promote recovery. Improve flexibility, range of motion and address muscle imbalances. Will consult with our onsite Physiotherapists where indicated.

Massage Timing – May provide pre-event massage, post-event massage for recovery, or maintenance massage between training.

Pressure/Intensity – Adjusts pressure and depth based on the client’s needs, feedback on comfort level, and whether the goal is recovery or maintenance.

Considerations:

  1. Communication with you throughout to monitor sensations.
  2. For acute injuries, working within your pain limits initially.
  3. Provides advice on stretching, self-massage, hydration, etc.

Sports massage uses targeted techniques to treat soft tissue issues in active individuals and athletes. It aims to enhance performance, reduce injury risk, manage injuries and promote recovery through therapeutic massage tailored to your sport/activity.
